    Monterey Bay Aquarium

    A must see! The Monterey Bay Aquarium is a world-renowned tourist attraction with spectacular exhibits of local ecosystems. Monterey Bay Aquarium boasts the largest tank enclosed by a single fused piece of Plexiglas in the world: the Outer Bay exhibit. We will be having a post-dinner reception at the Monterey Bay Aquarium in the Outer Bay exhibit during the Symposium. Monterey Bay Aquarium is located near Cannery Row in downtown Monterey.     Cannery Row

    Cannery Row is the place to visit in Monterey whether you are looking for great meals, hip bar and dance clubs, tons of shopping, wine tasting, or historic buildings referencing the life and times of Noble and Pulitzer Prize-winning author John Steinbeck.


     

    Golf Courses in Monterey/Pacific Grove area

    There are many world-famous golf courses, clubhouses and resorts in this area. Breathtaking views of the ocean and wooded landscapes of Monterey, Pacific Grove, and Carmel abound, and white-tailed deer are often seen at the edges of the courses.


     

    Horseback riding

    Pebble Beach TM Equestrian Center offers 4 beach trail rides daily, in addition to reserved group or private lessons. Trail ride prices are $45 for regularly scheduled rides, and $60-90 for private rides. Rides last 1 hr 20 min, and are recommended to everyone over the age of 12 yrs. Spectacular views!     Wine tasting

    Monterey and the surrounding areas have some incredible wineries, and a 2-hr drive away is the famous Paso Robles Wine Country.


     

     

     

     

     

     

     


     

    17-mile drive in Pebble Beach

    The 17-mile drive is a scenic driving tour of the Monterey Peninsula that encompasses miles of Pebble Beach coastline, Del Monte Forest, and famous golf courses such as The Links, Spyglass Hill, and Pebble Beach. You will see the famous Lone Cypress, rugged rocky shoreline, and California sea mammals such as the sea otter and sea lion in their natural environment. Admission is $7.50 per car at any one of the five admission gates to the Pebble Beach Resorts.


     

    Lighthouses

    There are two local lighthouses open to the public near Monterey, Los Pinos Lighthouse and Big Sur Lighthouse. Both are well documented with hours of operation by the Monterey Visitors and Convention Bureau site below.
