Staying in a local hotel or motel

If you desire more luxurious, private accommodations there are many excellent hotels in the immediate vicinity, many within walking distance to the conference grounds. This listing of hotels was compiled by Symposium staff in January 2000 and reflects availability and prices at that time (prices are not guaranteed).

If you decide to stay off Asilomar grounds, there will be a daily usage fee charged by Asilomar of $8.00. Also, if you wish to eat at Asilomar in the dining hall, you will need to pay separately for each meal:

Breakfast $6.27
Lunch $8.52
Dinner $13.67

These fees will be collected when you check in for the Symposium on Sept. 6, 2000. Please be ready to pay by credit card or cash a minimum charge of $40.00 in daily usage fees if you stay off-grounds. If you choose to have meals on-grounds, then the charge will be appropriately higher.

We strongly recommend you obtain reservations at one of these properties or another of your choosing very soon. The weekend before the conference (Sept. 2-4) is Labor day and the weekend during the conference (Sept. 9-10) there is a large international car race in the area. Many hotels are nearly full to capacity already (January 2000).
