Firefly Signal Evolution

    Marc A. Branham

Keywords: Firefly, Behavior, Systematics

My main research interest is the evolution of bioluminescent communication in fireflies (family Lampyridae). While my early firefly research dealt primarily with sexual selection (female choice) in the firefly Photinus consimilis, my current research, also my dissertation, is dedicated to combining behavioral studies with phylogenetic analyses in order to study the evolution of communication systems in this group of beetles.
